Taking a cruise these days has become a major part of the holiday
tourist industry. With well over 19 million passengers opting for a
cruise over an normal holiday in a certain country. In 2011 alone the
holiday industry took $29.4 billion US and a production of a further
nine newly built ships which cater for the North American vacationers
have been added each year since 2001, The north American region and
Carribbean destinations seem to be the most popular cruise areas,
however there are still other Smaller markets, such as the
Asia-Pacific region which people love to vist, however these areas
may generally be serviced by older ships.As the growth in these
areas grows newer ships are then deployed. With prices more in the
reach of the ordinary customers these days many more people are taking
cruises. However back in the olden days when the first cruise liner was
built in 1831, it was boarded by nobles, authorities, and royal princes
from all over Europe. The ship sailed to Taormina, Catania, Syracuse,
Malta, Corfu, Patras, Delphi, Zante, Athens, Smyrna, Constantinople in
just over 3 months. Passengers were entertained with excursions
and guided tours, dancing, card tables on the deck and parties on board
the vessel.
